Due to frequent and disappointing news about security breaches and leakage of personally identifiable information(PII), cyber  security has become one of the hottest topics in conferences such as TED. The good news is that these attentions have resulted in a host of informative cyber security talks freely available to people. The subject matter experts such as Bruce Schneier, Mikko Hypponen, and lots of brilliant cyber security minds have given speeches on TED conferences so far worldwide.

These talks help increasing awareness in this area and prevent people from making undoable mistakes on the Internet. People deserve to have access to high-quality content to learn how to get security hygiene right. We as information security experts should make security awareness more accessible for everyone but I found two problems regarding these talks:

In case of TED, there is not a complete playlist of all cyber security talks

Cyber Security TED Talk Playlist

Currently, just two playlists have listed cyber security talks which are neither complete nor enough. I decided to make a complete playlist here while trying to raise the issue with TED.

Who are the hackers?

The language barrier

The language barrier is still a huge problem in communicating important messages. As TED talks are English, lots of people cannot benefit from and we should do something about it. Contributing to TED Translation community and Open Translation Project (OTP) could solve this issue to a great extent. It is amazing, that the Open Translation Project has over 18,000 volunteers globally that transcribe and translate TED talks.

Language Barrier

I realised that there are some cyber security talks without Persian/Farsi subtitle (my mother tongue). I found it a good opportunity to join TED Translator Communities and take a small step to eradicate language barrier. In addition, translation of talks with technical content could be more effective if is undertaken by experts in that field.
